^^^ I would love to laugh. But seeing as I just went through something like this. I am going to let it go and hope Karma does not bite me for thinking of laughing. Good luck.

Another test, the RAM might not be at fault but the slot itself might...
If nothing works i'll post here that I might be away for a bit. I'll transfer any important information across to my externals, format both HDDs, completely strip out all the components, dust them, re-attach them all and re-install windows.
In theory. In practice, it might go a bit different

Now given a thorough clean to remove all the dust, removed the heat-sink and cleaned that too. Removed the shitty dried up thermal paste and made a direct contact. I shouldn't really but its gotta be better than the crusty shit on there. Now the fan is as loud as a fucking jet engine. Im undecided if this is a good thing or not; the heat sink seems to be keeping cool, but that could simply mean its not working.
UPDATE: Replaced the thermal paste with this copper stuff. Its actually intended as an anti-sieze compound for cars but copper conducts well enough so, fuck it. Now she's purring like a kitten. Or my fans now fucked. One of the two.
UPDATE 2: So I just realised, playing "Holy Smoke" is probably tempting fate.

Bawden I think I had the same problem except with me it froze like 5 mins after I booted and dunno if this is relevant, but my cursor changed from arrow to thinking, I reinstalled windows and now it works fine.

Mine freezes. First the sound will crash, then the processor will cut out so I can't click to change window, and then, finally my mouse will sieze and the internal buzzer will sound indicating something's wrong. The main problem with a seizure like this is doesn't log any error reports, so it really could be anything. It could be a virus, overheating, a hardware fault, dodgy driver, software conflict, registry fault, loose connection, build up of static electricity, etc, etc. Im running in a temperature monitor of my core CPU to see if it spikes, but I seem to have fixed any overheating issue that may have been the cause.
Last resort is a format of the drive and a re-installation.

Gearing up to write a ten page essay about rock in the 80s woohoo, everyone else in my class is writing about the historical fiction of selected movies and half of their paper consists of a plot synopsis, not fair.

I knew the fact that I bought a dell would come back to haunt me. No boot disc. Retards.
Anyway, I found out with a bit of research that if you call them up and bitch enough, they tell you of a hidden boot menu that restores it back to factory conditions. Hopefully that fixed the problem. Now to remove all the crap they believe "essential." Like a four year old virus scanner that doesn't work and an expired copy of an overpriced photo album application, and - possibly my favourite - an application that takes you to an online form to order internet access from a company that hasn't existed for two years.
But apparently, MSOffice ISNT essential.

Usually you have to buy that separate from the computer, or you purchase it along with the computer. I bought it with my laptop, and it came with a backup disk for such situations, along with the corresponding key code on a sticker on the bottom of my laptop.

I have about three different copies around various places. My parents are real disc whores. I just found a copy of Windows NT AND windows 95. You can really tell the influence I've had on them though. NT and 95 look all official, then theres a worn looking Office98...then theres the three different cds with "Windows XP" written on it in a black felt tip pen

The album The Corpse of Rebirth by A Forest of Stars is so awesome. I discovered it about a year and a half ago, and it started out being something that I listened to once in a while for shits and gigs because it was different, but probably would have only rated it 7/10, but now I find I'm listening to it more and more, and now it's on my weekly rotation and rated more like 9.5/10. Highly recommend for fans of black metal of the quirkier and more experimental variety.

I think I fixed it. At least it seems to running fine now, updated some of the old applications I lost, and apparently, I'm around 4,000 tracks lighter, but I can't for the life of me think what im missing.

So mediafire has decided to give me an error whenever I try to upload anything. And I thought it was the perfect website too.

Have you tried it since they moved from 2.0 to 3.0? They used a new Java code, so it might be a plugin that needs updating.

Italian PM has a very distinct style of doing things. Namely, flowery melodies, ball-less vocals and keyboard synths drowning out the drums. There are some good bands though, just largely overshadowed by the bad.

I not sure how you interpreted "a shit load of metal blogs are Italian" as "describe Italian PM for me, please"

Probably has to do with the heritage of Italian opera and Italian prog.
