What are your thoughts on this? Think it's as bad as it seems, are you getting the vaccine? Discuss. =D

I don't even know if we get the option here. I don't think anyone really gives a crap. Most people probably fear the fat blonde git (Boris Johnson for those who didn't get the reference) talking about busses again more than any pigs.
But the checklist.
Are you:
Pregnant
Elderly
Under the age of 12
With an otherwise compromised immune system e.g.
AIDS
HIV Positive
Hepatitis
Anaemic
Hypochondriac
Rich, fat, and with too much time on your hands
A complete fucking retard
If you answered yes to any of the following, swine flu is the least of your problems. Never has such fear been instilled by the death of one illegal mexican immigrant (Last I checked, the only death from swine flu in the US was a Mexican child who died not far from the border).

THIS The swine-flu scare is just a bunch of bullshit, as far as I'm concerned.

It's the regular flu, just has a slightly different infection pattern. I know MULTIPLE people who've had it.
And personally, I've never gotten a flu shot in my life and have never understood the point of getting one. Hell I've caught the flu 2 or 3 times in my life, people act like it's fucking cancer or something.

"Up until now, there have been 114 laboratory-confirmed deaths among children," the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Thomas Frieden, told a press conference on Friday, referring to swine flu."

Personally, I'm with you guys and think its all a just a scare and I think it's quite stupid how it's thrown way out of proportion.
"The biggest rise was recorded in the Americas region, where 4,175 deaths have now been reported to the WHO."
Last I checked, which was yesterday, there were only 1400 or so deaths in North America from the Swine Flu, so either it was out dated or one of them is way off. It was wiki though.

Mmh the swine flu hype reminds me of the bird flu hype or SARS. Media likes illnesses that can kill you...I was in london this summer and the news would consists of swine flu, terrorism, the apollo landing and cricket....When it gets boring they move on leaving people asking "wtf happened to swine flu?"....

yeah....maybe when I'm like 80 and frail i'll get a flu shot. but at 20, it seems unreasonable.
I had friends who HAD swine flu. They're all fine.

On a side note, post ww1, the Spanish Influenza killed more people than the war.
THAT was a pandemic. This is bullshit.

If I remember correctly Spanish Influenza killed 50 mil people which was equivalent to 3% of the worlds pop, now thats alot of people.
But still that doesn't hold a candle to Yersinia Pestis killed 75-100 mil people from 1351-1400~, now thats a disease that wont quit...until we build resistance...and got antibiotics....

Not confirmed, reported. And that's less than I was expecting. Id have thought everyone would be screaming "It was swine flu," even when its hole-in-the-head obvious it wasn't.

Every year in the United States, on average:
-5% to 20% of the population gets the flu; -more than 200,000 people are hospitalized from flu-related complications; and -about 36,000 people die from flu-related causes.
That's the regular flu. The good 'ol, none-swine bullshit kind. H1N1 hasn't even come close to that in the US and people are shitting bricks over it.
It's yet another example of news outlets hyping up a story to boost ratings and keep the population on edge.
Africanized Killer Bees School shootings sprees Illegal Immigration SARS Anthrax Avian Flu etc. etc. etc.
It's all bullshit. I know people who've had it. I'm not getting shit.

I cracked a joke last night about having a fever and mom spazzed at me. She didn't find it to funny. xD
But, I've brought those up to other people and for some reason, they figure this is worse. Even Mad Cow had a little spree a few years ago. I'm glad to see you guys have the same view point as I do though. =D

The thing is, I wouldn't be surprised if we see more people die from complication arising from the vaccine than from the disease itself...after all, this is what happened during the Swine Flu "outbreak" of 1976--deaths from disease: 1, deaths from vaccine: ~25.

With Mad Cow there was a simple preventative measure. Burn the fucking cows. That was a little different, it wasn't an airborne virus and it wasn't infectious. It was a result of eating infected meat. Don't eat infected meat. Problem solved

This one?
The thing is, the government has provided the pharmaceutical companies that produce the vaccine with special legal protection so that if any deaths/abnormalities/injuries occur from the vaccine, those who suffer or their families can't sue them for damages.
