I figure if we've got this many metalheads in one place we're bound to have some horror fans as well.

So, we can discuss classics, upcoming shit, whatever.

Let's start with: favorite sub-genre? I'm partial to horror comedies (Dead Alive, Evil Dead II) and zombies.

What say you Lifer?

I would be the token Asian-Horror nut. Audition, Shikoku, Tale of Two Sisters, The Host, The Eye, Ju-On, Dark Water, etc, etc. Not that theres anything wrong with European cinema ofc. Anti-Christ was awesome ^_^

Asian horror is great. You mentioned Audition, are you a fan of Takashi Miike's other stuff (Ichi the Killer, Gozu)?

Wouldn't call them horror's so much, but yeah. I own copies of MPD Psycho, Gozu, Visitor Q, Audition, Happiness of the Katakuri's, Ichi the Killer and Rainy Dog which I think qualifies me as a mini-nut tongue

Yeah true, I guess I have a tendency to see some of Miike's stuff as body-horror.

It's good to meet another Miike fan (Happiness of the Katakuri's is underrated by too many people.) Have you seen Imprint? I was interested until a friend who usually loves Miike talked me out of it.

Oh, and how was Anti-Christ?

Oh, and how was Anti-Christ?

There was a link to my review of anti-christ. Need to fix it so links show up underlined or something.

*adds to his to-do list*

Not seen imprint. I'm currently exploring more into Japanese 70s pinky films. Notably Lady Snowblood and the Female Prisoner Trilogy.

Don't really care much for horror films in general (except for some of the classics), but I am a fan of horror-comedy, especially when the comedy is unintentional Very Happy
'Shark Attack 3' is a perfect example Laughing

Hahahaha. Sci-Fi channel... oh I'm sorry SyFy (wtf?) is good for that.

But some are just plain bad - like any of the Return of the Living Dead films past no. 2.

I like series like those of Freddy or Chucky. Jason, meh, not so much. The new Micheal Myers is basically just sad, and thats without comparing to the old Halloween movies, which I still need to watch.

Really? I keep hearing that Rob Zombie's Halloween films were pretty good for remakes/re-imaginings.

I hated the old Halloween movies to be honest. Zombie's remake was decent, but much better then the original.

ICE SPIDERS?! Never heard of it, but I'm very intrigued...

Despite my intense hatred of all things eight-legged and crawly, I loved both Arachnophobia and Eight-Legged Freaks.

Reading the user comments on IMDB, it sounds right up my alley. Very Happy
On the other hand, spiders FREAK me out and spider movies give me the creeps pale

I used to feel the same way, but then I realized that the satisfaction of seeing spider get destroyed outweighed any creep factor they might have on me.

It's strangely cathartic seeing a spider blow up.

I read the IMDb page and it looks interesting. How was it?

I haven't seen many zombie/war flicks. I'd like to find some good ol' Nazi zombie movies too.

War of the Living Dead is a complete waste of time. Whenever a zombie gets shot in the head it shows it from the same angle every time, the transitions between scenes made it look like a 12 year old kid on youtube made the film, bad acting and a cheesy plot were just a few things that were wrong with this movie, I could go on but that would take to long.

Zombie Lake and Shock Waves are considered the essentials when it comes to Zombie Nazi movies.

I tend to prefer zombie movies and horror/comedy movies. I have been thinking about checking out the Hellraiser series soon though. Also, Alien deserves a definite mention in this topic.

Bingo!! Especially in terms of zombie pictures. Horror comedy has to be smart in order for me to get behind it (ie. Return of the Living Dead, Dead Alive, Evil Dead 2), but I'm completely gonzo for zombies. This might interest you a great deal if you haven't already seen it,

http://liferthemoviecorner.blogspot.com/2009/06/dead-snow-dd-sn.html
Excellent.

My Top 5

1. John Carpenter's THE THING
2. JAWS
3. George Romero's DAWN OF THE DEAD
4. AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON
5. HALLOWEEN 1&2 (prefer to view them as a single entity)
