But some are just plain bad - like any of the Return of the Living Dead films past no. 2. Would you believe that I much prefer ROTLD 3 over 2?!? It bears repeat viewing, and has much more going on. ROTLD 2 was just grade z schlock IMO.

I haven't seen many zombie/war flicks. I'd like to find some good ol' Nazi zombie movies too. Zombie Lake and Shock Waves are considered the essentials when it comes to Zombie Nazi movies.
I tend to prefer zombie movies and horror/comedy movies. I have been thinking about checking out the Hellraiser series soon though. Also, Alien deserves a definite mention in this topic. There is a new essential. http://liferthemoviecorner.blogspot.com/2009/06/dead-snow-dd-sn.html

ROTLD 3 was meh to me, the whole S&M zombie girlfriend angle irked me. I saw they did 4 and 5 and they went straight to SciFi so I passed. But the original is sooo good, so many classic scenes/lines. Also, I've recently been having the 'zombie debate' (ie what qualifies a zombie: virus, voodoo, raising from the dead) with some friends and I'm the only one who defends TRADITIONAL ZOMBIES. Everyone else disqualifies them

Really? I keep hearing that Rob Zombie's Halloween films were pretty good for remakes/re-imaginings. I didn't see the second one. I liked the first one.

Favorite horror movie of all time is the original Halloween. Even though I know what is going to happen I still get tense and jumpy. Personally, I think that makes a great horror movie.

I haven't seen any horror film that's not predictable. Not that I'm complaining, the genre still manages to deliver despite that flaw. That and large amounts of cheese (the Evil Dead series for e.g, one of my favorites).

Something of a mindfuck.

Just picked up and watched a 1971 movie called Blood on Satan's Claw... a chick named Angel is a witch that leads a coven of children in a small medieval village and starts performing ritual murders and just causing general ruckus, and the town tries to figure out and destroy the source of the witchcraft. It was pretty good. It had some genuinely eerie moments, like when members of Angel's coven tricking a girl into thinking they're playing a game when they're actually leading her off to be ritually raped and sacrificed before Satan at a ruined church.

I want to watch "Grotesque" at some point, just to put my stomach to the test. It looks to fit somewhere between horror and a snuff film. Trailer

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoBAWGd3iFI Banned in the UK and Japan. Something about rating would carry a risk of the film causing mental harm to those who watched it Well, I was laughing along to Terminator and Aliens by the age of six. It'd have to be pretty special to do any more damage to me

I really enjoyed Mirrors, it's the only horror that had me scared through the majority of the film.

I need a list of good horror movies that can probably be found in your local Blockbuster, please. I'm a n00b to the genre, so everything other than George A. Romero movies are pretty much unknown to me. =D

THANK YOUUUUU! At this point, I'm really just looking for a foothold in the genre. I'll get picky once I refine my taste.
