So, I figured I'd start a topic on this. This is pretty much a topic for all the weird stuff that inevitably gets brought up when I'm around. So, if you want to know about a particular Occult school of thought, or argue about the nature of UFOs, or whatever else you might want to discuss along these lines should be posted in here. I don't really have anything to start with, so I guess I'll just wait for someone else to make the first move.

I had a tarot reading done on one of my dreams and related stuff a couple of nights ago.

It actually turned out pretty positive.

Well, I'm highly skeptical about the existence of anything truly within the realm of the supernatural.
And while i do believe that there is something to the existence of UFOS, I do not believe they hail from outer space. There is another explanation in my opinion. I have theories.

I share your thoughts on the matter. My feeling is that UFO's are government test planes and vehicles.

I believe in aliens but I'm skeptical if any would take the time to travel to Earth. So I think UFOs are just hoaxes or secret government planes and stuff.

Some are, I'm sure. Remember, UFOs are exactly that - unidentified flying objects. I mean, aliens almost certainly exist. But I don't think we've found any evidence just yet.

Well considering the number of galaxies that we know of and how many stars are contained in each galaxy the odds are quite good for other forms of intelligent life being out there. However, we don't have any hard proof that shows this. As for military craft, while it is a likely explanation for the black triangles that have been spotted in recent years it simply cannot be applied to every case. The modern age of UFOs began in 1947, only two years after the development of the atomic bomb. Considering the maneuvers and speeds these crafts were able to perform it seems highly unlikely that they were top secret craft since we can't replicate that now. This also does not explain craft that were seen before the Wright Brothers revolutionized aviation. UFOs are simply too complex an issue to be entirely explained away by something so mundane.

I think that what humans have seen and tagged as UFOs could be either extraterrestrial aircraft, military experiments, or a combination of the two.

I think it is 100% probable that there are other civilizations in the universe, or 'extraterrestrial'/'alien' societies - whether they would come to Earth or not, I don't know. I've heard many different theories, one of them being that one of our presidents actually spoke face-to-face with an extraterrestrial being and formed an agreement saying basically - if we let extraterrestrials fly in our air space without being bothered, they will lend us some of their knowledge and technology. If that were the case, then I guess it'd be an example of that combination of extraterrestrials and our own military's experimentation.

My preferred theories are those of John Keel and Jacques Vallee. They pretty much state that UFOs are simply the current manifestation of an age old phenomena that has also appeared as angels, elves, goblins, and a number of other things. Keel also argues that certain sitings of Bigfoot as well as poltergeist activity are caused by the same phenomena.

That kinda makes me think of Childhood's End.

The chances that Earth is the only planet in the existence of the universe to have life on it is almost 0. Of all the galaxies in all of the universe, our planet is the only one with life? Logically unlikely.

And I say again. If this "logic' was applied to a "god", how quickly would that theory be struck down? To say that because there is no proof and to think we are alone is silly, does not prove a thing. What you have is the same as anyone who follows a religion, FAITH. You choose to believe that there "must" be life out there. Why? Because it is so big and vast? Not good enough for me. I take very little on faith. I want proof. If there is life out there why has it not tried to contact us? Yet we constantly try and find them. Sorry, say what you like. But until you produce proof, I have no reason to believe based on the size of the universe. By proof I mean REAL proof. Not, "We can't explain it so it must be aliens." proof. I want concrete evidence before I waste any time believing.

To your first point. Yes. Since you are implying that we are some how unworthy of being looked upon by a higher form. Then if nothing else to conquer us, or obliterate us.

To your second point.
Pointless rhetoric from a book written by men to control weak minded men. It is there to cover your ass and reassure you that even though it all seems like bullshit, you are doing the right thing. Don't question and don't think for yourself. You are some how better because you are more gullible and quick to believe? I don't think so. In the words of Rush, "Show me don't tell me."

If I had the technology to explore space and saw all human transmissions (all the violence in our news/tv shows/movies, etc.) I wouldn't bother with us either. There's a reason that's such a commonly used sci-fi trope.

Nobody's saying that at all. It's kinda standard procedure though in a lot of Christian churches, which is why most of the more intelligent ones refuse to adhere to their arbitrary dogmas. :[

Who's to say these higher forms of life don't have something like the Prime Directive from Star Trek? What if all they can do is observe and not make contact? I'm not trying to force you to believe in extraterrestrials as there is no hard proof, but being a healthy skeptic also means being open to all possibilities as well. It is possible that some UFOs are ET craft and one cannot rule this out simply because of lack of evidence.

I remember a few years back that some mathematicians formulated a theorem to assess the possibility of there being life on other planets. Based on the known amount of galaxies and stars within said galaxies, they in fact came up with a number pertaining to planets/planetoids able to support life.

Approximately 10000 planets could support life in the known universe according to these scientists. THAT is something to consider.

Right because we humans are so awful right? Never capable of compassion or kindness. Please. I know you as a christian believe that we are all born into sin and are therefore flawed and horrible people. That the only way to change that is threw accepting Jesus. But I do not. I think we humans are capable of great things and in our time of need (9/11,WWII,Oklahoma City Bombing to name a few) We have shown the true human spirit. For christians you want this world to be shit, because in the end you could care less what happens to it. You are playing for the end game. Because all you want is to die and go to heaven. So spare me this "Our society is so horrible. Just watch T.V. and you will see." bullshit. T.V. exist to get ratings and finds the stories to get it. They are not interested in real news. IF there are outside beings then why have they not contacted us and yet we contact them as much as possible? NO does that eliminate the possibility? Of course not. But then there is a possibility that some day we humans will fly. But I doubt it. The same with aliens in my opinion.
